CSA Week 14, 8/28/13

My favorite this week was the cheddar cauliflower. So pretty!
I think it's hard to tell from the picture just how much food this is. This next picture should give you some perspective. It's enough vegi's for the whole week.

Here's the list this week:
Red Potatoes, large bag, 13 ears of sweet corn, 1 palace king cucumber, 3 misc. cucumbers, 1 large zucchinni, 1 small zucchinni, 6 beets, 1 sweet onion, 1 red onion, 10 green onions, broccoli, 1 pound strawberries, 6 tomatoes, 6 carrots, 2 heads lettuce, 1 cheddar cauliflower, 2 watermelon radishes, dill, 4 basil, and thyme! Quite a haul this week!

CSA Week 13. 8/21/13

This week brought the first of the extra sweet corn! YUM!!!
This week had so much good food, many of our members were puffing on the way to the car, and others had to make 2 trips because it was so heavy! That's one full basket!
Here's this week's list. The strawberries are always a hit, and people commented on how much they liked the Kolrabi, but the star of this week's basket was definitely the corn! Yum! This is an early variety of corn. The ears will get bigger as the season goes on.

CSA Week 12, 8/14/13

The produce we show you each week is the same produce our CSA members receive. After we lay it all out for the picture, the next full share member gets everything on the board to take home. It's exactly the same as what the other members get, just laid out for the picture. They pull it right off the board as shown in the picture below.
Here's the list of this week's bounty:

CSA Week 11, 8/7/13

For a celebration of half way through our harvest, we decided to give everyone free snow cones for everyone! It was a welcome relief after another hard day's work. Yum!
We hope you enjoyed them!
Here's this week's basket:
Here's the list of what it all was:
Red Potatoes, Leeks, Zucchini, Sweet Onion, Garlic Bulbs, Cucumbers, Broccoli, Carrots, Basil, Strawberries, Tomatoes, Lettuce, Radishes* ... We were excited about the garlic and strawberries especially. Deelish!

*We did have our first "oops" though. What we thought were turnips turned out to be a specialty kind of "Watermelon" radish. (white on the outside & red in the middle) We sent out an email to warn everyone. We realized our mistake an hour later when we diced the "turnips" for our stew...and they tasted like radishes!

(NOT a turnip! *sheepish grin*)

CSA Week 10, 7/31/13

Week 10 means that we are half way through this Harvest season. I think we've been doing a pretty good job so far of offering both variety and quality produce. Today's list is in the picture below.
Also, by request, we've started a Swore Farms CSA facebook page so our CSA members can visit about recipes and how they are cooking their fresh yummies. (For instance, we diced the transparent apples without peeling them and made apple cobbler a couple days ago. Yum!)
